KEY WEST, Fla. - A Miami Beach man was arrested Monday on a warrant out of Louisiana, authorities said.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office said Manuel Espinosa, 41, was taken into custody by Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies in Key West after he was stopped by U.S. Navy military police who discovered  that he had an active warrant.

Caddo Sheriff's Detective Jeremy Edward said Espinosa was working with a group of people who obtained victims' personal information by skimming credit cards at gas station pumps throughout Shreveport-Bossier City in northwestern Louisiana.

Authorities said the information was then used to produce counterfeit debit cards that were turned over to Espinosa.

Espinosa used the cards to purchase gift cards from businesses in the area, authorities said.

Detectives said the gift cards were then split with others involved in the skimmer scam.

Espinosa is being held in the Monroe County Jail in Stock Island until he can be returned to Caddo Parish. He faces a charge of access device fraud.

Two others were previously arrested in connection with the case and warrants remain outstanding for four more, authorities said.
