According to detectives, Thompson, who was a court records specialist in the Parking Violations Bureau of the Clerk’s Office, obtained credit card information from people who paid their parking fines over the telephone.

Authorities said Thompson used the information to make online purchases from his workplace computer from Dec. 15, 2014 through Jan. 15, 2015.

The Clerk's Office received numerous complaints from customers claiming their credit card information had been compromised.

The Clerk's Office then contacted the OIG, which conducted an investigation into the matter.

Investigators said Thompson admitted to misusing people's credit card information to make personal purchases.

He was immediately terminated from his job after he confessed, investigators said.

Thompson faces charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft and petty theft.
