Miami man accused of posing as rideshare driver, holding women against will

Farris Kaloti, 28, of Miami, is accused of posing as a rideshare driver to pick up women on or near the University of South Carolina campus and hold them against their will.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Police in South Carolina are searching for a South Florida man accused of posing as a rideshare driver to pick up women, including University of South Carolina students, and holding them against their will.

Columbia, South Carolina, police said Farris Kaloti is accused of assaulting a woman who got out of his car on Nov. 26 and tried to help her friend get out. Police said the woman was treated at a hospital for scrapes and bruises to her leg.

A campus alert said the suspect is accused of offering rides to multiple women and taking them to places other than their intended destinations, refusing to let them out.

Court records identify Kaloti, 28, as a Miami resident.

The alert said Kaloti isn't affiliated with the university but has been reported to be on or near campus.
