DUCK KEY, Fla. ā A Miami man was arrested in the Florida Keys on a curfew violation and other charges after he claimed to be returning home after work, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
James Winters, 36, was stopped by a deputy on patrol at mile marker 61 in Duck Key just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Winters told the deputy he had gotten a job on Cudjoe Key and was driving back to Miami, but he wasn't able to provide any information about his employer or where he was working, Herrin said.
A background check revealed that Winters had a suspended driver's license for being a habitual traffic offender, Herrin said. A gun, Xanax, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also found in his vehicle, Herrin said.
Winters, who is a felon, had outstanding warrants in Miami-Dade County for grand theft auto. He faces other charges that include driving with a suspended license and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
