KEY LARGO, Fla. - A couple who was visiting South Florida from Minnesota this week was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night in the parking lot of a restaurant in Key Largo, authorities said.

The robbery was reported just after 8 p.m. outside Skipper's Dockside.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said the couple was getting into their truck when two armed robbers confronted them -- one on each side of the vehicle.

Herrin said the woman screamed and slapped at the gun that was pointed at her.

She said the robber stepped back and a fired a shot into the ground before both robbers ran away.

Two witnesses told deputies that one of the robbers ran into a wooded area.

George Yeatman, 17, of Marathon, was found by a deputy a short time later, riding a bicycle away from the area.

Herrin said Yeatman was sweating profusely and had scratches consistent with fleeing through a wooded area.

Authorities said Yeatman told the deputy that he'd been at the Key Largo Community Park playing basketball with friends, but authorities said the park has not been open since Hurricane Irma and the lights for the basketball court were not turned on that night.

The victims and witnesses identified Yeatman as one of the armed robbers.

The teen was arrested on an armed robbery charge. Authorities are still searching for his accomplice.
