BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A Palm Beach Sheriff's Office deputy was injured Wednesday during while trying to recover a stolen car in Boynton Beach. 

When the driver of the stolen silver Mercedes-Benz rammed through a closed gate, the gate flew open and hurt the deputy at the Casa Brera Luxury Apartments.

The deputy discharged his weapon, but no one was injured. The driver fled and crashed the vehicle into a pole and fled on foot.  The deputy was hospitalized and remained in stable condition. 

The deputies were conducting a massive search in Palm Beach County Wednesday night. Lawrence Road between Gateway Boulevard and Mine Road were closed.
