Police suspect murder-suicide after father finds ex-wife, children dead

8-year-old, 1-year-old among those found dead

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A father told police officers he walked into a home in southwest Miami-Dade County on Friday afternoon and found his 29-year-old ex-wife, his 8-year-old daughter and his 1-year-old son dead.

Miami-Dade police detectives were investigating the deaths at 25389 SW 132nd Ave. as a murder-suicide.

Detective Argemis Colome said the three died of apparent gunshot wounds.

Gertrudis Marin, the girl's first-grade teacher, said that when her student was absent from school, she called her mother. She was outside the home and stood next to the crime scene tape distraught.

"She never answered, and this kind of surprised me because she's one to, you know, keep up with my messages," Marin said.

Police officers said there was a suicide note left behind.
