Teen shot in Miami-Dade's Pinewood area, police officers say

Teen in car gets shot, friend drives him to hospital

PINEWOOD, Fla. – A 16-year-old male was shot Thursday night in Northwest Miami-Dade's Pinewood area, according to Miami-Dade police officers.

Detective Argemis Colome said officers responded to a Citgo gas station at Northwest 103rd Street and Northwest 12th Avenue to investigate the shooting.

The teen was inside a black two-door Honda when he was shot, and a friend drove him to the North Shore Medical Center at 1100 NW 95 St.

Crime scene investigators marked at least six locations for bullet casings on the ground at the gas station.

The area is dangerous. Last year, 6-year-old King Carter, a Van E. Blanton Elementary School first-grader, was shot and killed nearby at the Blue Lake Village apartment complex. Two years ago, a man died and another was injured at the same gas station.

Miami-Dade detectives were also searching for the killers of 2-year-old Carnell Williams-Thomas in Goulds and an unidentified 17-year-old male in Northwest Miami-Dade.

Authorities were asking anyone with information about the shootings to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
