MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to information about the person who fatally shot a 2-year-old boy last week in southwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade police said Carnell Williams-Thomas was shot just after 6 p.m. Friday in the courtyard of the Arthur Mays Villas, a public housing apartment complex at 21491 Southwest 114th Court.
The boy's mother was holding Carnell in the courtyard when police arrived.
He was then airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he died.
On Monday, more than a dozen police officers went door-to-door, passing out fliers and speaking with people in the neighborhood in hopes that someone has information that can help them.
"This could have been their child, their grandchild -- so people are talking and they're coming forward with information. We just want to encourage the community that there is no information that's insignificant," Maj. Samuel Bronson said. "Every little bit of information helps us to put this case together so we can find the killer who's responsible."
Police said they do not believe Carnell was the target of the shooting, but rather that he was caught in the crossfire.
