Second person arrested after social media threat made against Coral Springs High School

Sebastian Darrah, 18, claims threatening post was a joke, police say

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – An 18-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday for making threats against Coral Springs High School a day after his friend was arrested for bringing a gun to school, police said.

According to an arrest report, Sebastian Darrah posted a screenshot of a text message conversation on Instagram that stated, "Watch out for round 2 tomorrow springs. We comin guns blazin. You locked our (expletive) up."

Police said Darrah posted the image Monday night, hours after former student Ryan Trollinger, 17, brought a gun to the school cafeteria.

Authorities said a current student was also taken into custody for an involuntary mental evaluation under Florida's "Baker Act" law after he was found with a seven-page manifesto detailing a plan for a school shooting.

"It's premature to jump to a conclusion as to whether this child is linked with any other child writing a journal or what has been reported that was in that journal," Trollinger's attorney, Gordon Weekes, said.

Detectives went to Darrah's home shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and said that he confessed to posting the text message conversations, but said that it was a joke and he did not intend to shoot anyone at the school.

"It doesn't feel like a joke now, right? Because you're in adult jail," Broward County Judge Michael Davis said.

Davis ordered that Darrah be placed on house arrest upon his release from jail. He is not allowed to use the Internet.

Trollinger appeared in juvenile court Tuesday afternoon. A judge ruled that he will remain in the Broward Regional Juvenile Facility at least until his next hearing on Oct. 31.

"This is a very difficult situation for this child and his family," Weekes said.

The teen who was found with the manifesto has not been charged.
