Teen burglary suspects in custody after police chase in West Miami

Police chief says SUV reported stolen 3 days earlier in South Miami

WEST MIAMI, Fla. ā€“ Two 17-year-old burglary suspects were taken into custody Tuesday morning after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle, West Miami Police Chief Nelson Andreu said.

Sky 10 was above the scene as police were handcuffing one of the suspects near Southwest Fourth Street and Southwest 77th Avenue.

The teenagersĀ tried to burglarize a home but couldn't get inside, so they drove away in a white Honda Acura SUV that had been reported stolen three days earlier in South Miami, Andreu said.

During the chase, the driver of the stolen SUV struck several police cars, AndreuĀ said.

The driver eventually lost control of the carĀ and the suspects bailed out, but they were quickly taken into custody, Andreu said.
