SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. - A man accused of fatally shooting another man at a South Miami market in a dispute about a woman has been arrested.
Miami-Dade police said Terrance Carter, 22, surrendered to police Monday at his attorney's office.
Carter faces charges of second-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Police said Carter fatally shot Markeith Nickles, 22, at the South Miami Market during an argument about the suspect's girlfriend.
According to a police report, Carter took out a gun and shot Nickles outside the store. Carter then followed Nickles inside the store, pistol-whipped him and shot him in the chest, the report said.
Nickles was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The shooting was captured on the store's surveillance cameras, and witnesses were able to identify Carter as the shooter after looking at a photographic lineup.
Police said Carter was taken into custody at his attorney's Coral Gables office. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
