Home surveillance catches thief stealing car, laptop from Oakland Park home

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify a thief who was caught on surveillance video rummaging through an Oakland Park home last month while the residents were upstairs.

The incident happened on April 18, a little before 1 a.m.

"He found a wallet and two sets of car keys before exiting through a sliding glass door," BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.

Carter said he was believed to have stolen several credit cards, a Mac laptop and a gray 2016 Toyota Camry with a New Jersey license plate.

BSO detectives believe the thief is in his late teens. He was wearing a blue or green sweatshirt.
