Troopers search for driver who killed man in I-95 hit-and-run crash

Police dash cam footage captures driver leaving scene

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a driver who they said drove away after striking a motorcyclist on Interstate 95.

The hit-and-run crash was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sept. 2.

Troopers said the victim, Kevin Scheinberg, 36, was riding his motorcycle north on I-95, just south of Yamato Road, when the driver of a dark-colored Chrysler 200 changed lanes and struck the left side of the victim's motorcycle.

The impact caused Scheinberg to lose control of his motorcycle and be ejected onto the roadway.

Authorities said the driver of the Chrysler stopped for a short time, but left after police and fire rescue crews arrived.

Troopers said it was not known at the time that he was involved in the crash, until evidence collected from the scene came back to a Chrysler 200.

Police dash cam footage released Friday shows the driver leaving the scene.

The victim was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he died.

Troopers said the Chrysler might have minor damage to its right side.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information about it is asked to call the FHP at 954-308-5929 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-8477. A reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
