MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - A 26-year-old woman was killed early Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in Miami Lakes, authorities said.

The incident was reported about 2:30 a.m. in the area of Miami Lakes Drive and Fairway Drive.

Miami-Dade police said a passerby found the victim lying in the road and called 911.

Authorities arrived at the scene to find the woman, identified as Tatum Holloway, of Traverse, Michigan, in the street and a McDonald's bag thrown nearby.

Detectives believe the woman was carrying the bag of food when she was struck by a car, which is believed to be a silver 2009-2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Police said Holloway was attempting to cross Fairway Drive, walking from East to West in the designated crosswalk, when she was struck by a vehicle.

Police said she was thrown into the air and landed on the curb.

The vehicle that struck Holloway is believed to have front and passenger-side damage.

Local 10 News was at the scene later in the day as some of the victim's friends left flowers at the scene. They did not want to speak with reporters.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
