Women accused of scamming residents of Sunrise Lakes Retirement Community

Thieves use victims' credit cards after telling them they've been compromised

SUNRISE, Fla. – Detectives are searching for two women who are accused of defrauding residents of the Sunrise Lakes Retirement Community.

According to authorities, several victims received phone calls in April from someone who claimed that their bank account information had been compromised.

The crooks told the victims that a person was in custody and a representative needed to "re-chip" their credit cards.

Authorities said someone then went to the victims' homes and took their cards.

The women, who were dressed in medical scrubs, were captured on surveillance video using the victims' credit cards.

They are wanted on charges of strong arm robbery and fraud.

Anyone with information about their identities is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
