8 Cuban migrants found off Key Biscayne

Migrants taken into custody will be returned to Cuba

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Eight Cuban nationals were picked up Monday by U.S. Border Patrol agents near Key Biscayne.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Frank Miller said the Key Biscayne Police Department notified agents of the Cubans' arrival. They were taken into custody and screened by emergency medical services.

The group will be processed before being returned to Cuba. 

Their arrival comes days after 25 migrants were found on an island near Big Pine Key and another group claims that someone shot at them as they left the island. The fate of the seven Cuban migrants who were treated for gunshot wounds is still up in the air.
