Women raise money for charities while paddle boarding from Havana to Key West

Women arrive in Keys in just over 23 hours

KEY WEST, Fla. – Three women who made it their mission to paddle board from Havana to Key West using only their hands arrived in South Florida Friday morning.

The women's goal was to make it to the Keys in 25 hours. They arrived at 9:16 a.m., making it in 23 hours and 27 minutes.

Aimee Spector, Cynthia Aguilar and Karen Figueroa each paddled for two hours at a time at the beginning of their journey Thursday, and then reduced the time so they could rest longer.

A boat followed the women the entire time.

The women raised money and awareness during their journey for two foundations that are close to their hearts -- Oceans of Hope and Special Olympics 305.
