Donald Trump making over Doral Resort

Trump bought resort for $150M

DORAL, Fla. – Donald Trump is giving the thousand-acre Doral Resort quite a makeover.

"Literally the day after the PGA, we shut everything down. We went into the lodges and started ripping everything apart," said Trump's son, Eric.

The Trump family bought the resort out of bankruptcy for $150 million and is investing another $250,000 on the work.

"We like buying things out of bankruptcy. It's often times where we make our best deals," Eric Trump said Thursday. "You take something that's complicated, you take something that needs to be restructured, you take something that might be a little hurt and you fix it."

When its finished, the resort will have 800 hotel rooms, a bigger and grander ballroom, and upgrades to the five golf courses that have hosted PGA's annual Cadillac Championship for the last half century.

"We changed every blade of grass on the Blue Monster. What we did out there was great," said Trump. "We lengthened the course, we made it tougher in many ways."

Trump said the Miss USA pageant will also come to Doral.

"It'll definitely be here at some point," he said.

The renovations are scheduled to be completed by March 2014.
