The driver of this car was killed when it was struck by a Tri-Rail train in Delray Beach.

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - A driver is dead after a Tri-Rail train struck a car Thursday morning.

Delray Beach police said the car was crossing the railroad tracks west of Interstate 95 when a northbound Tri-Rail train struck it.

The driver died at the scene.

Seven passengers on the train were injured.

The train was carrying about 90 people.

While the track was closed, Tri-Rail arranged for a bus to carry travelers between the Boca Raton and Delray Beach stations.

Linton Boulevard was closed in both directions between Congress Avenue and I-95 for several hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The driver's identity hasn't been released.
