MIAMI - It took a Local 10 investigation to uncover millions of dollars' worth of county vehicles sitting idle, unnoticed and unused.
This week, Miami-Dade leaders called for change in the way they do business. Those at the top said they had no idea the county's inventory of vehicles kept growing over the past six years, with more than 150 sitting unused at a Metrorail station.
That's a problem right there. We would ask, how could they not know for so long?
Miami-Dade's mayor says now no more purchases like that will happen before he and the commissioners see a full inventory list.
That's a step in the right direction. A majority of commissioners still must approve such a resolution, and we think they will.
And, we'll keep looking for ways to protect your money.
That's our take on things. Let us know what you think.
