PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested a former deputy clerk accused of stealing money from a customer and altering her driving record.

Agents with the FDLE Miami Regional Operations Center said they arrested Jemettie Anne Mckeithen, 40, of Sunrise on Monday two counts of official misconduct and one count of petty theft.

FDLE said it began its investigation in 2011 after being contacted by investigators at the Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller's Public Integrity Unit.

Agents said they believe Mckeithen, using the clerk's database, updated her own driver's license, removing the fact that her license had been suspended.

While working in the clerk's office, Mckeithen's job was to process payments from customers who were paying their traffic citations.

Investigators said she is accused of stealing money from a customer and trying to conceal the theft.

Mckeithen was arrested at her Sunrise home and booked into the Broward County Jail on a $9,000 bond.
