KEY WEST, Fla. - Authorities said they have arrested three burglary suspects and recovered the guns they stole last week in the Florida Keys.

Matthew Berry, David Gilliland and David Pothier were arrested in connection with the upper Keys burglaries.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office detectives said Berry and Pothier stole three guns from an out-of-town resident in Key Largo, as well as a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The truck was later found destroyed in a fire in Florida City.

Detectives said the men tried to sell the guns to a man in Tavernier that same afternoon, but after he refused to buy them, they burglarized his home, stealing a 12-gauge shotgun and laptop computer.

Investigators identified Berry as a suspect, and he was taken into custody at a home in Homestead.

Detectives said Berry identified Pothier as his accomplice in the crimes.

Gilliland was identified as a third suspect. Detectives said he fled from authorities after a brief chase but was later apprehended. Detectives said they found the stolen guns at his Islamorada home.

Berry was being held at a Miami-Dade County jail on charges of armed burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

Gilliland and Pothier were being held at the Monroe County jail.
