2 arrested in Pinecrest T-Mobile burglary

1 suspect found hiding in drop ceiling, police say

PINECREST, Fla. – Two men have been arrested in connection with an early morning burglary at a T-Mobile store in Pinecrest.

Raiko Ramos Guerra and Maidel Aguirre-Menedez face charges of burglary to a business and vandalism to a business.

The burglary was reported just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the store on South Dixie Highway near Southwest 125th Street.

Pinecrest police said two men cut a hole into the wall of a vacant store next door to T-Mobile to get inside the cellphone store.

Surveillance video showed one man entering the store while the other waited in a getaway car. Police said a security alarm was tripped, and the security company was able to watch the burglary as it happened.

Police arrived within two minutes and were able to catch the suspected getaway driver on U.S. Highway 1.

Pinecrest police spokeswoman Michelle Hammontree said a police officer, identified as Rafael Ferrer, decided to go back to the scene "on a hunch" and found the second suspect in the drop ceiling of the adjacent vacant business.

Hammontree said both men confessed to the burglary.

About $28,000 worth of merchandise was taken from the store.
