2 charged with stealing luggage at South Fla. airports

Luggage stolen in June, July

MIAMI – Two men accused of stealing luggage from Miami International Airport have been arrested.

Juan Fidalgo and Alis Jimenez are facing multiple charges of third-degree grand theft.

According to detectives, Fidalgo and Jimenez were observed at different times in June and July removing luggage from Miami International Airport baggage claim carousels.

Detectives said Fidalgo and Jimenez also confessed to stealing luggage from Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.

Much of the stolen luggage and property was returned to its rightful owner, but detectives encourage any theft victims from any of the three South Florida airports to come forward with their case report numbers to possibly identify any of the seized items.

The confiscated property was on display Tuesday at the Miami-Dade Police Department's Airport District from 10-11 a.m.

Those who believe they may have been targeted by Fidalgo and Jimenez are urged to call the police's General Investigation's Unit at 305-876-7373.
