Airport shuttle driver hits two pedestrians outside of Westin Diplomat Hotel

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Two people were hospitalized Wednesday night after they were hit by an airport shuttle outside of the Westin Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood.

Police say a man and a woman were walking on the sidewalk near the hotel exit ramp when the shuttle ran into them, knocking them both to the ground.

According to a woman on the scene, the woman's leg was underneath the shuttle when paramedics arrived. Rebecca Chatowsey says she did not see the accident, but was one of the first to come to their aid.

"All I can say is that she was under the shuttle holding onto his leg and he was in front of her and both of them were on the street, sprawled out," Chatowsey said, adding that it appeared they both may have had head injuries. She held their hands until emergency crews arrived.

Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the middle-aged man is said to be in critical condition. Chatowsey said he did not appear to be conscious when she last saw him. The woman is in stable condition, but is expected to be okay.

Police say the driver of the shuttle stayed on the scene. He has not been charged.

The names of both the victims and the driver have not yet been released.
