Deputies free 6-foot shark that got caught in crab trap

TAMPA, Fla. – Florida deputies risked their own safety last week to help preserve sea life in Tampa Bay, and it was all captured on camera.

The deputies freed a 6-foot-long shark that had gotten caught in a crab trap on Friday.

A civilian flagged down the marine patrol officers to report the issue.

Video posted on the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Twitter feed shows the deputies working to help the shark, which was hooked on the trap’s buoy.

They cut down the hook as far as possible to free the shark.
