If you want a voice, you need to take action.

Florida has been changing election laws. New voter identification requirements under the Florida SAVE Act won’t take effect until next year, but other changes in the law may still impact your registration status.

Voters who have not cast ballots in a few election cycles may have been purged from the voting rolls. Now is the time to make sure you are registered to vote.

To confirm your status as a registered voter, check the election website in your county now.

If you are not registered, it can be done online at registertovoteflorida.gov.

You must register 29 days before an election, so if you want to vote in the Aug. 18 primary, you have until July 20 to do so.

And remember, Florida is a closed primary state. If you want to vote in the Democratic or Republican primaries, you must be registered in those parties.

You have until July 20 to register or change your party affiliation.
