WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — A woman who is accused of killing a man in Florida’s Panhandle months ago was arrested at a home by U.S. marshals, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office announced.
According to the sheriff’s office, Isabelle Johnson, 38, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force at a house in Cottondale Thursday afternoon in connection with the killing of 43-year-old Jason Coulthart.
Authorities said Coulthart vanished on May 24 in Niceville, in Okaloosa County, and his body was discovered on June 25 in a shallow grave in Walton County.
“The arrest was the result of information developed by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit on Johnson’s whereabouts,” the sheriff’s office posted on social media. “Johnson was brought to the Jackson County Jail and will be extradited to Walton County.”
Since Coulthart’s death, detectives have been searching for Johnson and released surveillance video showing her in Destin.
While Johnson faces a murder charge in connection with Coulthart’s death, several others have also been arrested in the case.
On June 26, detectives arrested Bobbi Wagstaff, 31, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and accessory to a capital felony after the fact.
On July 1, detectives arrested Martin Leaverton and Sandra Leaverton and accused them of helping Johnson. The Leavertons, both 63, each face a charge of accessory to a capital felony after the fact.
On July 10, detectives arrested Michael White and Kathleen Morris and accused them of helping Johnson hide until June 30 in Santa Rosa Beach.
Morris, 59, and White, 74, face charges of obstruction and accessory to a capital felony after the fact.
A motive for the killing remains unclear.
“The investigation on the circumstances landing Johnson in Cottondale is continuing,” the WCSO said. “Additional charges may be forthcoming.”
