PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Since the Palm Beach airport was renamed as President Donald J. Trump International Airport, the county has received more than 5,000 “security threats,” according to Alessandro Marchesani, Palm Beach County’s legislative affairs director.

During a county commission meeting on Aug. 25, Marchesani said 46 out of the 5,000 were credible enough to prompt investigations. Joseph Abruzzo, the county administrator, said the comments and complaints had been received since Jan. 1.

“The County has not been advised by law enforcement that any of those communications has been determined to constitute a credible threat,” Abruzzo said in a statement.

Marchesani also said there was a concern about a need for more security, and about the costs of renaming the airport. He said the state had provided half of the $5.5 million estimated cost and the county was seeking the other half.
