3 injured when car crashes into house

Mother, daughter, driver of car taken to hospital after incident

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Three people were injured when a car crashed into a house Friday evening, said the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The home was deemed unsafe, and the family did not end up sleeping there overnight. They will spend the weekend cleaning up and looking for a new place to stay.

Deputies said 76-year-old Gloria Icilda Dorman Lee crashed her Toyota Camry into the house in the 200 block of Maddy Lane about 5:20 p.m.

Dorman Lee told deputies that she thought a vehicle was going to hit her as she was traveling west on Boulevard of Champions, so she swerved to avoid the oncoming vehicle.

Dorman Lee said her brakes failed, she overcorrected and drove into the back of the house.

Deputies said 36-year-old Tania Blake was inside the house with three of her children at the time of the crash.

Blake and her 6-year-old daughter, Davia Blake, suffered minor injuries, along with Dorman Lee, according to deputies.

All three were taken to University Hospital by North Lauderdale Fire Rescue where deputies said they were treated and released for minor injuries.

Blake's two other children who were in the house, both boys, were not hurt.

Deputies said Dorman Lee was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to provide proof of insurance.
