SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. - A 900 pound pig was rescued from a pond in Southwest Ranches.

Pembroke Pines Firefighters teamed with the Southwest Ranches Volunteer Fire Department to pull the pig from the water behind a home on Southwest 59th Street in Southwest Ranches on Tuesday.

Firefighters said the two-and-a-half year old female pig named "Strawberry" was being walked to a trailer for transport to her new home in Wakulla, Florida, when she slipped into the water.

Neighbors quickly jumped into the water to help keep the pig's head above water while the pet's owner called 911.

Firefighters used a ladder and a large tarp to hoist the animal out of the 5-foot deep water.

"Strawberry" will be just fine!
