Angry flier arrested after bomb threat at MIA

Police: Oksana Gerzon asked 'What if I have a bomb in my bag?'

MIAMI – A traveler, who was angry after missing her flight to New York, was arrested after police said she made a bomb threat at Miami International Airport.

Miami-Dade Police said Oksana Gerzon, 41, arrived late for her Delta Airlines flight from MIA to LaGuardia Airport last Thursday.

When the Delta gate agents told Gerzon she would not be allowed to board, they said she got very angry and demanded her luggage be taken off the flight.

When the gate agent told her that was not possible and that her bags would be headed to LaGuardia, police said she asked, "What if I have a bomb in my bag?"

The agents said they gave Gerzon the chance to recant her question, but she repeated it again.

The flight was then delayed for 27 minutes while police checked out her claim.

When questioned later, police said Gerzon said she made the comment in order to scare the airline workers and make them remove and return her baggage.

Gerzon was headed to New Jersey where she lives. Instead, she got a free ride to the Miami-Dade County Jail.

Gerzon is charged with making a false bomb report and criminal mischief.
