MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Officials with the Orange Bowl explain how to avoid traffic as fans head to Sun Life Stadium for the BCS National Championship game.

College football fans and local South Florida commuters are advised that there is expected to be extremely heavy traffic congestion between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 due to the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game at Sun Life Stadium that night.
Drivers, including local commuters, are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid I?95 northbound between downtown Miami and the Golden Glades interchange to avoid the congestion due to game traffic mixed with normal heavy commuter traffic. Local commuters are advised to discuss with employers the possibility of leaving work early.
College football fans are advised that you must have a game ticket to park at Sun Life Stadium. Vehicles carrying non ticket holding patrons will not be permitted to park at the stadium on game day. Those with tickets are encouraged to arrive at the Stadium early and seek alternative routes to I-95/Florida Turnpike when traveling to the Stadium.
Cash Parking lots at Sun Life Stadium will open at noon on game day. Offsite cash lots within walking distance of the Stadium include Calder Race Track on the north side (off NW 27th Ave/University Drive); Betty T. Ferguson Park and Brentwood Elementary on the west side (NW 32nd Ave); and Norwood Elementary School (NW 14th Court), Norland High School and Norland Middle School (NW 12th Ave.) on the east side. Betty T. Ferguson will open at noon, Calder at 2 p.m. and the four schools will open at 3 p.m.
