Body of Robert Budhoo removed from Miami-Dade College West parking garage rubble

DORAL, Fla. – The body of an electrician who was killed when a parking garage collapsed at Miami-Dade College West was removed from the rubble on Thursday.

The body of Robert Budhoo, 53, was found on Monday. He had been buried in the rubble since October 10.

Budhoo's family has been staying near the college since the accident.

"These things should never happen. It's a terrible tragedy for our families. It's a terrible tragedy for Dade County," said Alan Goldfarb, an attorney for the Budhoo family. "It's just something that should never, ever occur, and in time, we'll get to the bottom of it, I'm sure."

Construction crews removed large pieces of concrete and steel before removing the body of Budhoo, who was identified by family members. The body still must be identified by the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner.

Three other men were killed when the parking garage collapse. The reason for the collapse remains under investigation.

One man who said he jumped two stories to escape the crumbling building has hired an attorney as he seeks compensation for his injuries.
