WEST PARK, Fla. - A 16-month-old boy was in serious condition after nearly drowning in West Park on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said the boy was breathing and conscious when deputies responded to a home facing Lake Margaret.
The baby boy nearly drowned in a "kiddie pool," according to Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.
Rescue took the boy -- who was in serious condition -- to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Jachles said.
Correction: BSO Fire spokesman initially identified the victim as a 16-year-old male. He later said victim was six months old.
