BSO patrol boat collides with cruise ship off Port Everglades

2 deputies taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ Two Broward Sheriff's Office deputies were injured Saturday afternoon when a BSO harbor patrol boat collided with a Holland America Line cruise ship at Port Everglades.

Ellen Kennedy, a spokeswoman for Port Everglades, said the ship involved was the MS Oosterdam, which remained at Terminal 29 at 2026 Eller Dr.

Deputies said the Port Everglades harbor patrol boat with the two deputies had a mechanical failure that caused it to crash into the Holland America Oosterdam aboutĀ 4:30 p.m.

Both deputies were taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Damage to the ship appears to be superficial, but the ship's departure was delayed as it awaitedĀ a U.S. Coast Guard inspection.

The incident remained under investigation Saturday evening.
