Police say person of interest in shooting detained

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – One man was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting Thursday night in Lauderhill, police said.

The shooting was reported about 7:45 p.m. outside a home on Northwest Second Street.

According to Lauderhill police Lt. Michael Santiago, officers found a man dead and another wounded. The wounded man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.  

Residents of the area said it's likely that the two men, who were shot inside of a car, knew the shooter.

Police said they have detained a person of interest who was cooperating and were in possession of a weapon. 

Authorities were asking anyone with information to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
