WINTER PARK, Fla. - Authorities were searching Thursday for the convicted felon accused of killing a 4-year-old girl in a hit-and-run crash at a day care in Orlando that left at least a dozen injured.

Four-year-old Lily Quintus died at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where eight other children were taken after the crash, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol issued a warrant for the arrest of Robert Corchado, 28, Wednesday night. The convicted felon may be traveling in a rented a black Mazda sports utility vehicle -- Florida tag CHRQ4.

On Wednesday afternoon, Corchado was driving a silver Dodge Durango when he crashed into the back of a Toyota Solara. He then lost control and plowed into KinderCare Learning Center, 4035 Golden Road, in Orlando's Winter Park.

There were about 50 people in the building when the crash happened.

After the car hit the building, witnesses told police, Corchado got out of the car and when he saw what he had done he got back in and fled.

Jeezy Jenkins told Local 10 News' partner in Orlando that he witnessed the crash from the roof of a nearby gas station, where he was working, and jumped off to help. There were kids lying on the ground. The scene was chaotic.

There were "other ones that weren't moving at all and the teachers were giving them CPR and stuff like that," Jenkins said.

He abandoned his car at his home in Winter Park.

This isn't the first time Corchado leaves the scene of a crash. Besides a hit-and-run and careless driving, Department of Corrections and Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show his extensive criminal record includes drug charges, battery, burglary, evidence tampering, and extortion.
