5-year-old, 3-year-old brothers taken from mother without permission, police say

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Police are asking for the public's help in finding two young boys who were reportedly kidnapped Monday while their mother was running an errand.

Around 5 p.m., officers responded to a kidnapping at 13200 NE 7th Avenue.

The mother of Darren Bonilla, 5, and Rey Bonilla, 3, said an acquaintance known as Gloria took her two sons without her permission while she was gone.

Police said the babysitter allowed the woman to take the boys. The reason for her taking the children is not yet known, police said.

Authorities were called after the mother returned and realized her kids were missing.

Gloria is described as 23-years-old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and about 125 pounds. Police said she has long brown hair and was wearing a gray long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. She is not from South Florida, but has been local for a short time, police said.

The 5-year-old boy has dark hair and was wearing a blue and yellow Sponge Bob t-shirt and blue and white Nike basketball shorts. The 3-year-old boy was wearing a blue and red shirt and red basketball shorts.

Investigators said they might be in a silver mid-size Chevrolet SUV.
