CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Twin sisters from Coral Springs who were reported missing have been found safe, their father told Local 10 News.
Ricky McClam, the father of Rickhia and Nicolette McClam, said Friday that his daughters were found safe somewhere in Florida and are back home.
Coral Springs police said the 12-year-old girls ran away from their father's home and left a note stating their intentions to visit their mother in New York after an argument with their father.
"My daughters are home safe now," Ricky McClam said. "I'm very, very, very happy they're home safe now."
Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said detectives found the girls at their godmother's house in Pompano Beach about midnight. She said they had been there the whole time.
Kmiotek said detectives are still investigating what is now a criminal investigation.
"I know (people) want to know what happened," Ricky McClam said. "Just give us time. Everything will come in due time."
Florida Department of Children and Families spokeswoman Paige Patterson-Hughes said that the Broward Sheriff's Office Child Protective Investigations Section, which conducts investigations regarding allegations of child abuse, neglect or abandonment, is investigating.
