MIAMI – Sick of daylight saving time? You may be in luck.
A Florida lawmaker has filed legislation calling for the state to get rid of daylight saving time in favor of following standard time year round.
The nameless, one-page bill was filed Nov. 13 by State Sen. Greg Steube, a Republican who represents the Sarasota area.
Should the bill clear the Legislature and receive Gov. Rick Scott's signature, it would take effect Jan. 1, 2019.
If the measure succeeds, Florida would join Arizona and Hawaii, which are currently the only two states that do not follow daylight saving time.
