MIAMI - The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is giving residents a glimpse of what their new driver licenses will look like.

More than 200 service centers throughout the state will begin offering the new version of the credential through December, the department said in a news release Monday.

The new design provides nearly double the fraud protection offered through the previous design as well as the most secure over-the-counter credential currently available, which features redundant data and ultraviolet ink.

In addition to the anti-fraud features, the new design also features designations for a number of categories, including: sportsman's, boater, freshwater and saltwater fishing, hunting licenses, veteran, organ donor, deaf/hard of hearing and developmentally disabled.

Though existing licenses and ID cards can still be used alongside the new credentials until they're eventually phased out, all credentials issued beginning on Jan. 1, 2018 will carry the new look and security features.
