HIALEAH, Fla. - A crowd of people were lined up outside the Curtis e-library in Hialeah for hours Friday as they tried to sign up for Section 8 housing.

Those who were running the operation said there was problem with their website, so they were unable to help people sign up.

One woman told Local 10's Liane Morejon she has been waiting to sign up since 5 a.m. and still had received no help by early afternoon.

"They said the system was down, so they gave us these papers and told us to come to this address which is 501 E. 4th Ave.," said Rosemarie. "I get here and I was treated real bad."

People grew restless and some said there had even been some pushing and shoving. They also said at least two people had to be taken away by fire crews to be treated for dehydration.

Organizers later brought out water and chairs to make everyone more comfortable and to keep everyone hydrated. They said all other sign up locations in Hialeah were experiencing the same computer issues.

Friday is the last day to sign up for Section 8 housing, but the deadline has been extended, allowing people to sign up online Saturday and Sunday.
