HIALEAH, Fla. – Hialeah Fire Department Chief Miguel "Mike" Anchia received a Letter of Instruction Wednesday from the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, after he failed to report that he received a free skybox ticket to a Miami Dolphins game.
According to a news release, Anchia accepted the ticket to a 2015 Dolphins game that was worth $1,000.
The commission requires county officials to disclose gifts that are worth more than $100.
The commission said Anchia did not disclose the gift until December 2016, when he became aware of the ethics investigation against him.
The Letter of Instruction reiterates the commission's gift-receiving rules and requirements and reminded the chief that by holding a position of leadership, it is imperative that he learns from the experience and sets a good example for those under his command in the future.
