Sandbags distribution centers open for Hurricane Matthew prep

Local authorities statewide open distribution centers

MIAMI – Authorities warned heavy rain will come with Hurricane Matthew -- a slow moving Category 4 storm affecting Florida's eastern coastal areas on Thursday.

Meteorologists' warnings prompted authorities in Florida to trigger emergency plans on Tuesday and Wednesday. To prevent flooding damage, most local public works departments distributed sandbags.

Authorities were asking residents to contact their local authorities for information on identification requirements and limits of bags per vehicle or household.
