MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Police identified the off-duty Miami-Dade County correctional officer shot and killed in front of his home as 46-year-old Andrew Johnson.

Johnson died Saturday after a shooting in the driveway of his Miami Gardens home, according to authorities.

Police said it happened along Northwest 27th Avenue and 211th Street at 7:50 p.m.

Johnson was reportedly a 10-year veteran of Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department.

Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department said a motive was not immediately known.
