HIALEAH, Fla. - A Hialeah police officer was injured in a crash on his way to assist with another crash involving a suspect.

Hialeah police Sgt. Eddy Rodriguez said police attempted a traffic stop when the driver of the car sped off and immediately crashed into four other vehicles at the intersection of East Eighth Avenue and Ninth Street.

That driver bailed out and ran into a nearby neighborhood, leaving behind an injured female, Rodriguez said.

As police searched for the driver, a motorcycle officer who was on his way to assist with the crash scene was injured in a separate crash, Rodriguez said. The officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The driver who fled from police was eventually apprehended and taken to JMH to be treated for the injuries he suffered in the first crash. The passenger in his car was also taken to the hospital.

Rodriguez said the driver's car was reported stolen.

The conditions of the driver, his passenger and the officer haven't been released.
