Surveillance video helps police arrest armed robbery suspect

Violent gunman targets woman in Porsche at parking lot

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Police arrested a man on Monday and accused him of robbing a woman at gunpoint at the Shores Shopping  Plaza in Miami Shores.

Police and the victim believe the violent armed robber was William Carroll, 57. And he might have been involved in other armed robberies.

"I'm innocent," Carroll said, while in handcuffs. "They got the wrong person."

Miami Shores Police Lt. David Golt said surveillance video showed the Wednesday crime in progress in the parking lot at the 9500 block of Northeast Second Avenue.

A woman got out of her Porsche. She was on her way to a nail appointment, when a man put her in a choke hold and threw her to the ground.

He put a gun to her head, and she said she heard him say, "If you scream, I will kill you."

The man took her wedding ring, valued at $30,000, an earring and her wallet.

The victim, who didn't want to be identified by name, said she feared he was going to find her and hurt her and her children.

"I'm just really happy that I can feel safe," she said.
