MIAMI – Miami Gardens Police Department announced Monday that their police canine, Max, died from injuries he sustained at a reported burglary on the evening of Sept. 12.
While in an attempt to confirm a robber's presence at a residence, the K-9 officer brought Max to a window that appeared to be an access point. A glass panel above Max collapsed oh him causing a severe laceration to his ear.

Max was sent to Hollywood Animal Hospital where he underwent surgery. During that time Max's cardiovascular system failed.
Max was a certified apprehension and explosives ordinance detection K9.
A memorial service will be held for Max at the Tropical Park Police Officers Memorial on Sept. 25 at 10 a.m.
